Paddle Holster Pistols
With pistol holsters, what is the difference between paddle and belt holsters. Aren't they both belt mounted?
A belt holster attaches to the belt by means of loops. The belt is actually threaded through the holster and then the belt is fastened around the waist. It is a secure design and fixes the holster to the belt.
A paddle holster is a holster designed with a large "paddle" or an oversize clip on the back of the holster that fits between the pants and the user's underwear with the holster on the outside of the pants. Sort of like an upside down "U". It is often used with a belt and by tightening the belt you tighten the holster to you. But the holster can still be pulled vertically off without taking off the belt. It allows for a holster that is quickly put on and taken off as it is the friction and depth of the paddle that holds the holster in place. Often, police or armed citizens use them if they frequent court houses, jails, or other places you can not take a weapon. Then they can quickly remove their firearm, conduct their business, then quickly reattach their firearm to their waistband.
